What’s the small-diameter welded pipe?
Small diameter welded pipe, also known as small diameter welded steel pipe, is a steel pipe welded by steel plate or strip steel after crimping. The production process of small-diameter welded pipe is simple, the production efficiency is high, the varieties and specifications are many, the equipment cost is low, but the comprehensive strength is lower than seamless steel pipe. Since 1930’s, with the rapid development of continuous production of high-quality strip steel and the improvement of welding and testing technology, the weld quality has been improved continuously, and the varieties and specifications of small-diameter welded pipes have been increasing, replacing seamless steel pipes in more and more fields. Welded steel pipe is divided into straight welded pipe and spiral welded pipe according to the weld form.
Small diameter welded pipe
The blank of small diameter welded pipe is steel plate or steel strip. According to different welding processes, it can be divided into furnace welded pipe, electric welded (resistance welding) pipe and automatic arc welded pipe. There are two kinds of welded pipe: straight welded pipe and spiral welded pipe. Because of its end shape, it is divided into circular welded pipe and special-shaped (square, flat, etc.) welded pipe.
The production process of small caliber welded pipe is simple, high efficiency, low cost and rapid development. The strength of spiral welded pipe is usually higher than that of straight welded pipe. Larger diameter welded pipes can be made from narrower blanks. It is also possible to produce welded pipes of different diameters from billets of the same width. However, compared with the straight seam pipe of the same length, the weld length increases by 30% to 100%, and the production speed is low. Therefore, most of the small-diameter welded pipes are straight seam welding and most of the large-diameter welded pipes are spiral welding.
