Recently, CNR International and its partners have been collaborating closely with MODEC to prepare an FPSO for drydocking at the Baobab oil field off the coast of Côte d’Ivoire. According to VAALCO Energy’s latest announcement, this FPSO is scheduled to enter drydock in 2025 for essential maintenance and upgrades.

VAALCO Energy has recently joined the Baobab oil field partnership by acquiring Svenska Petroleum, becoming a key collaborator with CNR International. Both companies are working diligently to ensure the FPSO enters drydock on schedule, maintaining the oil field’s ongoing efficient operations.

As part of the preparation, CNR International has begun developing a detailed project timeline and cost estimates. They also signed a letter of intent with MODEC on April 4, 2024, covering critical contracts, including the FPSO’s purchase, Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC), operation and maintenance services, and selecting contractors for vessel disconnection and reconnection. Additionally, the letter includes support for bids related to the shipyard modifications at the Dubai drydock.

In parallel, tank inspections are underway, a crucial step in assessing the FPSO’s overall condition and identifying any necessary repairs or upgrades. These inspections will ensure the FPSO’s safe and efficient transition into drydock.

Meanwhile, in Gabon’s Etame oil field, VAALCO Energy is planning its next drilling activities, with a launch set for early 2025. The company is also working on optimizing the flowline configuration of the Etame facilities to ensure maximum production efficiency before transferring products to the FPSO.
