Exploring New Horizons with ENI in Côte d’Ivoire

ENI has commenced oil and gas production in the Baleine field, situated offshore near Côte d’Ivoire. Baleine stands as the largest hydrocarbon discovery in the Ivorian sedimentary basin, marking the commencement of the area’s second phase of production.

In the initial phase, production was facilitated through the Baleine FPSO, a refurbished and upgraded floating production unit capable of processing up to 15,000 barrels per day of oil and approximately 25 Mscf/day of natural gas.

Exciting Prospects in the Second Phase

The eagerly anticipated second phase, slated to commence this year, is currently undergoing a competitive bidding process. Notable contenders include Chinese enterprises Huisun Marine Engineering, CIMC Raffles, alongside competitors from Dubai’s Drydocks World. Once the project is underway, oilfield production is expected to surge to 50,000 barrels per day of oil and approximately 70 MScf/day of natural gas.

ENI’s Storied History in Côte d’Ivoire

ENI’s presence in Côte d’Ivoire traces back to the 1960s through collaboration with Agip Côte d’Ivoire. Re-entering the country in 2015, ENI currently holds interests in the CI-101 and CI-802 blocks extending from the Baleine field, along with rights to four other deepwater blocks in Côte d’Ivoire: CI-205, CI-501, CI-401, and CI-801, all in partnership with Petroci Holding.
