ASTM A420 WPL6 carbon and alloy steel pipe fittings meeting Singapore client’s material requirements

At Haihao Group, we take pride in our commitment to meeting the specific material requirements of our clients, ensuring the highest quality standards are met for every project. Recently, we had the privilege of working with a valued client from Singapore, who had stringent specifications for the material used in their pipeline fittings. Let’s delve into the detailed material requirements specified by our client:

ASTM A420 WPL6 Fittings

ASTM A420 WPL6 Fittings

Material Specification: Our Singapore client required ASTM A420 low-temperature forged carbon and alloy steel pipe fittings, specifically emphasizing the steel grade WPL6.

Chemical Composition (%):

Carbon (C) Manganese (Mn) Phosphorus (P) Sulfur (S) Silicon (Si) Nickel (Ni) Chromium (Cr) Molybdenum (Mo) Copper (Cu) Niobium (Nb) Vanadium (V)
≤0.30 0.50-1.35 ≤0.035 ≤0.040 0.15-0.40 ≤0.40 ≤0.30 ≤0.12 ≤0.40 ≤0.02 ≤0.08

Special Requirements: The client’s contract specified a niobium content that could be increased to 0.05% for smelting analysis and 0.06% for finished product analysis.

Heat Treatment: All fittings were required to be supplied in the normalized, normalized and tempered, annealed, or quenched and tempered condition. Welding was to be completed before austenitizing heat treatment.

Additionally, the client’s order mandated that test samples could undergo simulated post-weld heat treatment at a temperature range of 595–650°C. The minimum holding time was set at 1 hour per 25mm, not less than 45 minutes.

Mechanical Properties:

Tensile Strength (MPa): 415-585

Yield Strength (MPa): ≥240
