The growing influence of Haihao Group in the flourishing chinese shipbuilding industry

In recent years, with the growth of the Chinese economy and significant progress in the shipbuilding sector, Haihao Group, as a specialist in pipeline systems, has been actively expanding its presence in the field of marine pipeline engineering. According to data released by the ministry of industry and information technology on January 15th, China’s shipbuilding industry has experienced substantial growth. From January to December 2023, the national shipbuilding completion volume reached 42.32 million deadweight tons, a YoY increase of 11.8%. The volume of new orders reached 71.20 million deadweight tons, showing a significant YoY growth of 56.4%. By the end of December, the order backlog amounted to 139.39 million deadweight tons, marking a YoY growth of 32.0%.

Further data reveals that during the same period, China’s shipbuilding completion volume, new order volume, and order backlog, measured in deadweight tons, accounted for 50.2%, 66.6%, and 55.0% of the global total, respectively. When measured in gross tons, these percentages were 47.6%, 60.2%, and 47.6%. China maintained its leading position globally in each category.

Simultaneously, in 2023, five, seven, and six Chinese shipbuilding enterprises entered the global top 10 in shipbuilding completion volume, new order volume, and order backlog, respectively. The concentration of the top 10 enterprises in each category was 58.4%, 60.7%, and 59.2%, indicating that China continues to hold a relatively high level of dominance in the industry.
